Thank you for your posting. I was prescribed Advair. Due to the steroid in Advair, I asked the doctor about side effects of weight gain............I was advised and assured by both the physician and the physician's assistant that weight gain was not a possible side effect of Advair. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
what are you giving him now? My son is 12 and do not know what to give him, I have been to gp allergist and tried everthing there is always some kind of reaction.
For a long time we were not treating his asthma with anything but albuterol, but his school nurse and health aide were calling us at least once a week. I got him into the allergist and found out that he's allergic to dogs, dust mites and maple pollen (all things he's exposed to regularly), and got a prescription for Loratadine (Claritin), Asmanex (an inhaler which contains a different drug than either Advair or Seldane, which he also had a bad reaction to behaviorally) and Nasonex, which is a nasal anti-histamine inhaler. So far he's been doing really well on these meds, and no behavior problems. No sign yet of weight gain either.
It's true. I have been taking Advair for 1 year, and have overall gained about 10 pounds that I cannot seem to explain or shed. I asked my doctor, and he denies that Advair is the culprit. But I am convinced that it is.
