I have had Mirena inserted about three weeks ago. Putting the IUD was not painful, but was not prepared for the major cramping that came right away. since then I have had cramping ( like the first day of menstrual cycle) which seeed tone triggeresd by my urination, and bleeding pretty much everyday. I had to take 2 ibuprofin (800 mg) to deal with the pain. My hair started to fall out and I thought it was a result of having the baby. My skin was itchy (didn't know why). My doctor has checked me 2 times. The last time was this thursday (10/18) and my mission was to remove it. She checked my urine (fine), did a pelvic and ultrasound ( fine). Dr.gave me a prescription for antibiotics for week to see if my symptoms will improve. However, after reading all these blogs, I just cannot deal with the pain, unpredictability of when the bleeding will start, having little or no sex life (husband is not happy about that), I am going to have it removed ASAP.

I had my mirena put in a few months ago, hoping that it would work for me. i was on the depo-provera, on it for too long. being on the depo for too long causes calcium loss in your bones. so i decided to stop it before i''m diagnosed with osteoporosis. Before I read these blogs, i just thought maybe this is all just PMS symptoms. i am having headaches, too often, a little too much hair loss, and there are times i do feel forgetful. I think it's also making my PMS back pain more intense. DAMN. I am now going to get this IUD removed. I think it works differently for everyone. just like any other med/contraceptive. i know alot of women who gained weight on the Depo. but I have never had that problem, I LOVED the Depo.I was also glad to read that someone else had the same side effect as i did putting in the Mirena, immediately after insertion, I felt light headed cold sweats, stomach cramping as if i was going to pass out. I've never felt that way before. Also the actual insert was painful!!!! I hope taking it out is not as painful.
