I am participating in a research study for Wellbutrin helping smokers to quit. I am 25 years old. The study is a double blind study so there is a possibility that I am on placebo...but judging from my feelings - I am not. I have been on wellbutrin for 8 days now. I went from 150mg to 300mg in the course of 3 days. My symptoms/side effects include feeling "blah", not having interest in conversation, coordination problems (I have had issues with walking up and down stairs; almost to the point of falling), small episodes of memory loss, and I am thinking possible hair loss. The hair loss is the most devastating to me and I am going to stop taking wellbutrin because of it. I will find another way to quit smoking - there is no sense in taking something that is going to make me feel horrible about myself. Has anyone quit taking it and have their hair grow back?

I have been taking Wellbutrin for one and a half years now, I have very horrible hair loss, I too can see my scalp. I am still not sure if it is the Wellbutrin or Zestoretic for high blood pressure, I started them about the same time. If anyone has an answer I would love to hear it too, also if there is any other antidepressants that do the same thing for the depression just without the hair loss.

I'm right there with you. My hair has been falling out for about 6 weeks now and I have been on the medicine since May. Today I decided to wean myself off of the medicine because of hearing I'm not the only one having this problem. I also would like to know of an alternative medicine that does not make you tired!

Thanks to forums like these, I was able to link my own hair loss to Wellbutrin. I will be forever grateful. After taking it for 4 months and loosing lots of hair I finally connected the Wellbutrin to the hair loss. I gradually stopped taking it over a two week period in an absolute panic. My doctor insisted that Wellbutrin was not the cause but I was sure it was.

I have never had a whole lot of hair. Mine is fine and thin and I have always been most careful with it. I was sick that after so much care, a med I was taking voluntarily was ruining what little hair I had.

My stylist recommended Nioxin hair products and taking Biotin (vitamin B). I followed his advice. It is now 5 months later and I have lots of new hair growth and fewer bald spots. I loved Wellbutin. It worked so well for me but I cannot live without my hair! Best of luck and I hope your hair will come back too.
