Oh My God! Sounds just like my problem, except I managed to stop in time. Took it for 2 weeks, ended up causing me a 3rd knee surgery (in 4 wks), then 2 weeks of IV antibiotics, to be followed by one week of Levoquin. Took pill #1, and in less than 12 hrs. was right back to all the swelling, muscle pain, etc etc etc. This was when I looked up the side effects: HA! I had at least 11-12 of them! And not one of my 'medical' doctors would believe that I could be allergic to Levoquin (and I also can never take Penn. ). You know, the only physician who believed me and told me what to do was my eye doctor! This opthomologist is the BEST doctor I have ever had. And yes, all those things happen. And the pain is awful. And it takes quite a while before it gets out of your system. And meanwhile my husband is bitterly complaining about my "awful tone of voice", and "aggressive" behaviour. Until my eye doctor clued him in. Yes, I guess for most people this is a life SAVING drug. For me, taking the second pill would have KILLED me with an anaphylactic shock reaction. And I am mostly alone here at home! Thank God for the internet, and that I (finally!) had enough brains to go looking for information. DAMN! THE PATIENT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DO THIS! THIS SHOULD BE A DOCTOR'S JOB, TO KNOW THE BACK-SIDE OF ANY MEDICINE. Still, after it all the Infection Specialist I was seeing STILL did not believe me. Guess who I will not see again??!! Surgeon finally believed me. Well damn, good for him. I HOPE and pray for you that things will get better. (You are right: HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. If WE can get all that info from the internet, well DUH, guess he could too!).
Please be better!
