Oh my goodness!!! I am SO glad I found this site. I got my Mirena April 2007. I had been on Depo for far too long and as my husband and I still don't want children for now, Mirena seemed the next best bet. I HAD done research and at the time didn't find anything that scared me off. I wish I had dug around more! I have been having various side effects, one of which is the HORRIBLE itchy and sore breasts I get every couple of weeks or so! I have had to hide just so I can rub the dang things to get some momentary relief! I also get the worst dang migraines once a month...about 2 weeks before I spot. The lightbulb recently went off that the weird acne I've been getting is likely related to this dang thing inside me too. I have NEVER had acne and am used to getting compliments on my "good skin". I am 29, have a good skin care regime and have the worst skin of my life! Add that to bloating and sore, itchy boobs, and oh boy, do I feel just great about myself! I didn't even mention the arthiritic-like pain I've been having in my hands and my carpal tunnel symptoms that started about July...I am going to make an appt with my doctor asap. Even if there are many possible explanations for everything, this is too weird. Getting this thing out of me would be a good place to start!

I agree you should see a doctor, but I just had one, and I am totally fine. I am 21 and the worse I have been getting is really bad cramps and spotting, WHICH IS NORMAL for the first three months...maybe you are having an allergic reaction or maybe its something else that is bothering you...the whole itchy booby thing could be a change of product you are using , becuase that happened to me when I washed my bras with a new detergent....I think you are a bit over reacting...the reason I got the Mirena IUD was becuase of the low side effects...and whatnot..there are a few side effects in the beginning...but yea..check with your doc...you could be going through some hormonal change. Good Luck

Thank you for your thoughts. I too, got the Mirena for its purported low side effects and effectiveness and regret not doing more thorough research. I am having mine removed tomorrow if my doc gets an opening.
I figure even if the Mirena is NOT the cause of my symptoms, it is one thing that I can control and a very good starting point to sorting my body out.

Here's a great site loaded with research, info, support and just people sharing their experiences with Mirena. You may have found it on your own, but here it is just in case:

Good luck with your Mirena. Hopefully you're one of the lucky ones and continue your good experience with it.

I didnt even link my hands to the Mirena, but I have had carpel tunnel syndrome symptoms too.I ve read that people are having joint pain, but until I read your blog on the hands I didnt relate.I never had such a problem! I cant even vaccume without my hands hurting. My husband doesnt even want me to "mess around" with him,he is scared that Im screwing up my hands because they start to hurt almost immediately afterwards.
