The instructions that come with this medication clearly indicate that this medication , and is typed in caps USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN CHILDREN under the age of 15. Please talk to the doctor about the risks and benefits before giving this to your child. Now that is with the print out you get when you pick up this medicine from Kaiser, and other drug stores, so I am really shocked to read all these stories of people giving this drug to so many small children. Always research your medication BEFORE you give it to yourself or your child. I have had many bad reactions, and had to learn the hard way for myself and mor my aging mom, she almost was rendered brain dead from a drug I did not research. Do your homework FIRST! I will never make this mistake again. Hope this helps someone.

my son was 15 and a half and still had a very adverse reaction and I did read the insert the side effects listed did not list depression and moodiness and suicidal thoughts! You must understand that pediatricians are prescribing this every day without the knowledge of these psychological effects and Our son was seen for a physical in the end of june and gone by august 4th.This drug is the reason even if you are doubting that these people used there good judgement ,we did .We questioned and were told singulair had less side effects and I do not distribute meds easily for My elderly mom was overdosed at a hospital and ended up on kidney dialysis! This was our only child and from a loving stable home a popular sweet boy who turned into an emotional mess after 17 days on this drug. This terrible tradgedy is something we have to live with but with this site and the knowledge we have now we are working at getting the drug relabeled with the proper warnings so parents can make an educated descision

This medicine is marketed and prescribed to children. There is a chewable cherry flavored tablet made specifically for children.

I think the labeling saying it's not recommended for children under 15 must be new because when my son was taking it two years ago the packaging basically said there were no side effects and it was safe for children. Doctors were prescribing it like it was the asthma wonder drug. I research everything. I researched Singulair when he first started taking it. If there had been anything indicating that he shouldn't take it I would never have given it to him. In fact, the doctor who prescribed it initially ARGUED with me about it and implied that I would be doing my child a disservice if I didn't give it to him. We have since left that office.

Actually it is recomended for children as young as 6months. Not sure what label it was you read. I work in a pharmacy and the leaflet states that the chewable childrens form is for 6 months and up. This is a very bad drug for kids. Have seen way too many side effects that are not clearly taught to parents who trust the doctors.
