Hey you all......the lipitor saga continues. I posted #23428 on Sept 6th. On Sept 13th I picked a 30 pound piece of fabric up at work and there was a big POP in my left arm. Distal Biceps Tendon rupture.....TORE it off the Bone. I have been weightlifting for 20 years and never had an injury such as this. I am used to lifting much heavier weights with no problem. Had surgery to reattach 9/18...7 weeks post op and still in brace. Will take a year to fully heal. Both my doctor and Ortho said they have never heard of tendon rupture caused by statin drugs...but I am convinced that it was directly related to lipitor damage/side effects. I did have my doctor shaking in his shoes, I told him with conviction that I would never again take a statin drug and I held him responsible. Would like to hear from anyone who may have had tendon issues while taking this drug. I hope we all get better soon! Peace Brian

A few minutes ago I wrote about a close friend who passed away on May 1st, 2007.

He was on statins but also on other medications and that made me do some research.

One of the medications that I looked at was antibiotics - quenelones (hope my spelling is rigth).

In his case it was Ciprofloxacin. I think it has several names, Cipro, Ciproxin etc.

I remember reading about people having sudden tendon ruptures even long after they stopped the medication.

Please go to www.fqresearch.org.

Also read the book - Bitter Pills - by Stephen Fried.

I am so glad that I have the Internet and that my English is good enough.

Hi there.. The worst of my tendon problems started after I quit the statin drug. It has moved from one joint to another, everyday, a different joint. Horriable pain where there was never any hint of a problem before but suddenly, there was so much pain I couldn't use that joint. It seems to have landed in my right shoulder where it has been got 10 months or more. I had a MRI in June that showed tendonitis and when the medical profession asks me how I hurt it, I tell them "I took statin drugs"..I know they all think I am crazy but maybe after they keep hearing it over and over, they will start to believe us. The doctors are being made fools out of by the big pharam's with their lies to them about the side effects..

Certain antibiotics such as Levaquin, Cipro..are two ,among a certain family of antibiotics(which I've forgotten the name of),that has been directly linked to tendon ruptures and many other injuries/sicknesses.

I have been on Lipitor since 2002. During 3/06, I suffered a rupture of Achilles tendon where it connects onto the calf muscle. Dr. said it was a very unusual injury. I checked my use of antibiotics (ie: Cipro) which is a known cause of tendon ruptures....only usage was after the injury...4/07 for 3 weeks.
