At times i feel that i'm normal but if something upsetting happens i get really tired, depress, and I have a never time concentrating at school and home.

My body hurts all the time. especially my joints and i feel that i don't want to do anything. i have about a year left until i graduate and its the going to be hard. i cry sometimes for no reason. help! i'm going to talk to my doctor but if any body else feels the same way please reply.

Please check with your doctor as soon as possible. I am having trouble getting my TSH levels where they should be. She (my doctor) explained to me that because they were so high it will cause me to be overly sensitive, very tired and also the pain in my joints....sounds like that may be what you are going through. When was the last time you had bloodwork done? Good luck and I hope you're feeling better soon...I know how trying this can be on a person. I have been deling with thyroid issues for many years now.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease and put on synthroid a year ago and feel worse than I did before I sought treatment. I am fatigued, can't concentrate or remember anything, severe back and joint pain, anxiety, hair loss. After seeing an endo who just increased my synthroid and would not listen, I went back to my family dr. who originally diagnosed me and told her that I refused to take the synthroid and I wanted Armour thyroid. I will begin taking it tomorrow. If I feel better I will let you know. In any event, educate yourself, research online and if you have to find a new dr, then do it. It's hard when you feel terrible all the time, I know. But you have to be your own advocate. There is a website www.allthyroid.com that I found to be very helpful. They even have studies on Armour conducted by dr.'s that you can print and take to your dr. so maybe they will be more open to prescribing it. Anyway, good luck to you!

I think you need to get your TSH level checked.

I definately had side effects to this medication....extreme mood swings ...and my doc was using this to treat PCOS...well it only made the symptoms 10x worse-I found a supplement called inositol which not only helps w/PCOS ..but minimized mood swings. I noticed synthroid cause alot of joint pain and dizziness..and made me feel anxious constantly-this stuff wasn't for me.

There is a book called the Thyroid solution I recommend .There is very good information on the Thyroid foundation web site. Getting a correct level is important. I feel better at 1.0 to 1.5 as a range for TSH. I have Hashimoto's and my thyroid did fail.
Exercise helps me quite a bit. Everyone I have ever spoken to seems tired no matter their level. Muscle pain happens as our muscles get bigger, but are less efficient. Learning proper stretching helps. If I don't do specific stretches I end up in pain very easily or with muscle cramping. Most doctors don't talk about it or send you somewhere else. I went to a sports doctor (D.O.) who helped me very much and understood the link. Again, get the book as the doctor who wrote it actually talks about all the stuff no one else will. In terms of managing the mood swings, you kind of have to realize it is normal. For me, the cardio part of my exercise helps. I also found doing deep breathing for 20-30 minutes really helps. It lowered my heart rate, and just made me feel better. You will find out what works for you.

Hi I am 27 and just started on synthyroid 2 weeks ago. I was feeling okay to like for the whole day and then around 4:00 maybe 5:00 I start to wind down. Feel just tired or when I get home and sit down in my bed I don't even want to get up! I could just drift off to sleep and just SLEEP!! and that's not me. My body aches off and on too but I have heard that when you first start on it you will feel good and then here comes the problems of feeling bad but that is your body getting used to the hormones getting realeased in your body and after the levels are normal everything shoul smooth out. How long have you been on it? I am on 88mcg right now but who knows if that is the right dose but anyway good luck and be blessed.

hi! i'm a college student as well! i'm a freshman, tho. i also cry for no reason, or for an insanely ridiculous one! i cannot concentrate in anything for more than 15 minutes. it makes it really hard to study, or write papers or anything at all. at times, i nap and simply pass out!!!!!! and when i do wake up, i feel numb, stupid, out of this world. Everything feels surreal... don't worry my friend, you are not alone!!!!

I have been taking synthroid medication for about a year now and I started having joint pain not long after. It started in my feet and hands, but now it has spread all over my body. Sometimes I have difficulty walking and writing. It is worst in the morning or when I have been sitting for a while. I never had joint pains before. When I told my endocronologist about it, he did not think it was the medication but nevertheless decided to lower the dosage. I find that they sympotms keep getting worst. I was not sure before that it was the medication but now I have no doubt.

for everyone that has responded to this email. i have been on synthyroid for over 15 years and have over the past few years learned that along with taking synthyroid for a thyroid issue, you must take multi-vitamins, along with taking a complex vitamin b. this will help provide the person with what the body is now lacking. this is very important. the multi vitamins help with energy, etc. the vitamin b helps with clearing the so called congestion in the head and helps one to think clearly again. very important........ also what can occur over years of a thyroid problem is irritable bowel syndrome, which also depletes the body of its vitamins (not allowing the body to fully absorb the vitamins within food), which is why taking vitamins is very necessary. i can say through experience that this is very helpful --- i was born with a thyroid issue (hyperthyroidism, along with ibs) what helps with pain is glucosamine. i am taking a vitamin that has glucosamine and chondroitin. ensure that you are also getting enough calcium along with magnesium. very important yet again. a huge also. it taking synthyroid, ensure that your multi vitamin does not contain huge amounts of iodine, reason being, synthyroid elevates your natural iodine levels, an taking more iodine could cause one to loose hair (known from experience). also, if on birth control, that elevates the iodine levels yet again. these are things that the doctor will not tell anyone, because they do not know about it, or are not fessing up. i had to learn this on my own, plus more recent years, reading about things on the internet. the internet for this issue has been a god sent. good luck to everyone.

I have the same side effects. I haven't been able to take my antiinflamatories because of stomach upset, I didn't take my thyroid med and realized that I didn't have any joint pain. I took my thryroid med and now I have joint pain. For years Docs have said Lupus, fibromyalgia, etc.
but I think it is nothing more than THYROID. What I don't understand is that Docs are hearing all these same complaints but no one has ever suggested that my pain was a side effect from medication. WHY?
