Daughter's ear infection was not responding well to prescribed antibiotic. Dr called in levaquin as replacement. Within THREE MINUTES, daughter was having reaction to levaquin. Within thirty minutes of taking levaquin, I had her in the ER. She is 15 years old, 5'5" 115 lbs, active healthy teen. Heart rate was 130. BP 130/88. She couldn't stop shaking, difficulty breathing, lips/tongue swelling, face, hands and feet numb.

Sorry to hear about your daughter. I've been expecting to see postings on here that deal with adverse reactions in children. Just read in the news a while back that Doctors will start using Levaquin for ear infections in children.

This is horrible...This drug is not safe for adults and now they want to use it in children.

This is a very informative site about Levaquin and other drugs in the same class.

http://www.fluoroquinolones.org/

PLEASE be sure that your daughter is not given any of the antibiotics like this again in the future.

Sounds like she did not get a massive dose of this crap, so hopefully she will not experience any of the long term side effects.

I'm afraid we will see more children affected by this drug, so please be sure and let your friends and family know about this stuff.

Hope all is well with your daughter, Kerry

Thanks for replies..I had never even heard of Levaquin until last week when it made my daughter so ill. Luckily, she took just one pill. Incredible though isn't it..one pill..that's all it took. Scarey stuff! Hoping that doctors and others in the medical field will investigate sites like this to hear what has happened to people who have been prescribed this drug..not just a few patients....but many. It seems the same type of side effects keep happening...and they're severe!! side effects!
