You are absolutely rigth - we must all get educated and help each other.
I have written a few messages during November 2007 and suggested some Internet-addresses and interesting books.
www.medications.com is a webb-site that you have to revisit time and time again because the messages keep coming.
Here´s one address:
www.ravnskov.nu
Here´s one book:
The Great Cholesterol Con by Malcolm Kendrick (U.K.)
There are a lot more in my earlier messages (swedish).
I have been on Lipitor 20 mg for a number of years and have had muscle pain after walking a short distance in the calves of my legs for the past 18 months. Dr. indicated that I had stenosis of the spine and I had surgery to relieve the pressure. It has done nothing for my symtoms. I have been to arterial vascular surgeon , and had numerous ct scans, MRIs, sonogram (looking for aneurysm) most recently have been to a neuro surgeon as my internist felt that the previous surgery had not worked and feels that it is still my back. The neuro surgeon has now referred me to a neurologist. I have taken myself off Lipitor as of last Monday. Have not seen any results to date. I am having some pain in my neck and shoulder (I felt that it was a stiff neck similar to sleeping on it crooked) and some numbness (like carpal tunnel) in my left hand when I awake from sleeping. I have arthritic like pain in my right thumb muscle area.
It certainly is a scary situation that the Drug Administration would allow a medical product like this to be on the market.
