Hallelujah, its OUT! I got mine out today!!! I made sure to take ibuprofen before I went in and thank heavens the removal was NOTHING like the insertion! Quick, easy and pretty painless! I sure wish I could go "au naturel' at this point but my husband and I just can not risk pregnancy right now. I am grudgingly going to start on a low hormone pill on Sunday... I will post in the future to share what changes happen now that the thing is gone! Good luck to all you ladies!

I felt some of the side effects go only a few days/weeks after I had it taken out, but things like acne tend to take longer to clear up. I would be careful using even a low dosage pill just now-I personally am just using condoms as I cant really use any hormones. I thought it would be rubbish using condoms, but its atually completely fine! Anyway, hope you recover well after having the mirena out.

I am having terrible side-effects with the mirena and hope to get it taken out this week (I've had it in for over a month and am just now experiencing fatigue, SEVERE anxiety and mild depression, and headaches.) I wish I could go on Yasmin - which I highly recommend as I took it for years and had light periods and actually LOST weight - but I am nursing and they say it might dry up my milk. I am sad that Mirena did not work out for me but I can not go on like this any longer; I have a household to run (with 3 kids now!) and I can't function!

Well I have had Mirena in for almost 3 months and in addition to the constant bleeding or spotting, mild depression, headaches and just overall moodiness! I only tried Mirena because I thought it would not affect me hormonally. Man was I wrong. I haven't decided on taking it out yet because I was trying to give it a chance to work through my system and then I read in a forum of women, that most that had Mirena for significant time experienced hair loss! What's next, ya know? Pregnancy IS NOT an option for me either. I just want to be myself :( Trish
