Within 2 weeks of my father taking Lipitor, he started suffering joint pains and achiness. It started in his pelvic area then would move to his knee, foot, wrist, elbow, shoulder. Sometimes his feet and hand swell up. It got so bad, that I had to take him to emergency to make sure that nothing was wrong. They ran blood tests on him, couldn't find anything, and told him to rest. My father used to be very active, even for his age of 74. I couldn't believe that the doctor prescribed Lipitor even though my father's cholesterol was normal. My father had to prove to the doctor by taking another blood test which came back normal like before. He stopped taking Lipitor two weeks after he started, yet he still has these pains and has a difficult time being mobile. Usually after he does a little light exercise, he starts to feel better, but sometimes its so bad that he can't even think about moving around. Everyday there is a pain in different areas of his body. I hope that this will eventually go away.
