I have been on 25 mg of atenolol initially for treatment of heart palps related to hyperthyroidism. Thyroid is back within normal range but continued the atenolo. I only chose to take 12.5 mgs and at times increased to the 25 mgs during heart palp episodes. I am also on Diovan 360 mgs for HBP. I have experienced the head pressure, anxiety episodes with chest tightness. Very scary! I have been experiencing high BP readings since July 2007 which I suspect are due to hormonal elevation (per + hormonal test). Since reading these posts, I now believe the side effects I am experiencing may be coming from the atenolol and perhaps from the diovan as well. I have been on atenolol since Oct. 07. I welcome any comments, suggestions, or feedback. I definitely want off the atenolol.
