I have been on Mircette for over a year and a half. I'm 54, in good health and work out. Never smoked but heart disease runs in my family. I've never had any problem with moods etc. My Dr. put me on the medication to regulate my periods, hot flashes and help me get through menopause. I like the fact my periods are lighter and predictable. Lately I've had pain in my legs, like maybe my deep veins and severe cramps in my thighs and feet. It was just at night now I'm having the pain during the day. I am so afraid of a stroke, heart attack, or blood clots. Does anybody know if this could be a blood clot? My Dr. says that I'm not going to have any problems because it is such a low dose. Any comments from anyone?

Hi, I was on Miricette, generic. I turned 40 in June and developed a pulmonary embolism in August. I was in great health and had been on the birthcontrol for many years. I didn't notice any pains in my legs but when it hurt to breath and a had a sharp pain in upper right shoulder I went to doctor to find out and she sent me to hospital where they tested and admitted me on the spot. Am on blood thinners now for 6 months and they say after that time I will be as likely as any other person to develop another clot. No more hormones though. I am developing hot flashes now and had only 1 period in the months that have followed my stay at hospital. Waiting to see if the hot flashes are early menopause or symptoms of blood thinners
