Please by all means keep taking the Levaquin for your infection. Don't worry about the anxiety and sleeplessness -- it's all in your head.
You have a lot of nerve to belittle people via your posting here. You must have been searching for Levaquin side effects or you wouldn't have found this forum -- looks like you were a little worried about this "poison" yourself.
A word to the wise...don't assume that you haven't been poisoned just yet.
Like I said keep taking it and keep bragging on it.
Kerry
I re4ally hope nothing happens to you like it did to me and many others. Its real fella, I couldn"t walk normally for 3 months the pain was so bad. Evidently you have hint of arthritis. Good for you. But watch out, its deadly to some! Marsh
Whoops, made a mistake in the answer to ferd, obvioulsy he has NO hint of arthritis!!!!!
WOULDN'T YOU EXPECT YOUR DOCTOR TO BE UP ON MEDICATIONS? HE'S A PROFESSIONAL. I'M NOT SAYING WE SOULDN'T LOOK OUT FOR OURSELVES BUT HE'S GETTING THE BIG BUCKS TO TAKE CARE OF US. MY DR'S IGNORANCE OF THIS POWERFUL CHEMICAL HAS RUINED MY LIFE AND MANY OTHERS. AND JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT OVER HALF OF THE PEOPLE I PERSONALLY HAVE TALKED TO HAVE TAKEN ONE QUINOLONE OR ANOTHER BEFORE WITH NO ADVERSE AFFECTS. THIS "POISON" IS KNOWN TO STAY SOMEWHERE IN THE BODY AND BUILDS UP AS IT'S TAKEN. SO JUST BE CAREFUL. AND YOUR SYMTOMS ARE DEFINITELY LISTED AS SIDE EFFECTS . SIDE EFFECTS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. HOWEVER, WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO TAKE SOMETHING THAT IS KNOWN TO DO PERMANENT DAMAGE WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER DRUGS OUT THERE. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME. GOOD LUCK TO YOU
As I reply to your insensitive posting to this forum, I struggle to contain the anger that threatens to interfere with the message. Since you obviously felt some kind of "reaction", the anxiety you were feeling prompted you to seek information not given to you by your "disinterested" doctor. I experienced no anxiety, hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, swelling or other frightening side effects as so many who have posted here did. What I did experience was pain in each and every joint in my body. Do you realize how many joints there are in your body? I was a healthy, active and physically fit 40 yr old who had always kept my body strong, toned and healthy. When I was give 750 mg dosage of levaquin I was extremely ill with a bronchial infection like I had never had. I could barely function much less question my very good doctor about possible adverse reactions. I had never had anything more than an upset stomache from an antibiotic that I knew of and never thought anything like this could happen from an antibiotic. How dare you belittle the pain that so many have endured since taking this POISON. You were lucky....and I hope you appreciate it. Meanwhile there are some of us who struggle through each and every day in pain, who hobble out of bed each day and try to get to work, get through the day, participate in their child's life, be the Mom who does it all because he deserves that...and the medical community just wants to continue to treat us with more drugs..it has been a major learning experience for me, one I would not wish on anyone. So, I hope you finally get to sleep...if you CAN SLEEP after such a cruel posting...I pray that this damage is not permanent for you or me. Hope you have a nice life.
I completely agree with you, and this is coming from someone who has experienced the ill effects of Levaquin. I am struggling with earache, tinnitus, insomnia, anxiety, and tendon pain after taking Levaquin for a "possible" sinus infection. Even so, I would never advocate taking this drug off the market. It would be nice if doctors were better educated about the ill effects. It seems to me that it should only be used if the doctor is sure that no other antibiotic will be effective in treating the patient. Thank you for your post, it's always good to have a little perspective.
There is definitely an objective way to analyze this and I will not succomb to your ignorance to downplay your symptons and the use of Levequin like you did to those who had serious issues with it. I am sure all are happy that you don't have a brain infection and that the Levequin worked wonders for you. I also agree with you that we all need to be our own advocates when it comes to understanding the medications that you are prescribed and that medications really are poison. However, I did take Levequin for an upper respiratory infection and had an experience(broke out into severe hives and my throat closed and had to be rushed to the hospital) and I watched my mother in law have an awful seizure after taking levequin for an UTI. We are educated people who do read the side effects of drugs and like you said taking Levequin or Penicillin could eventually have an effect as great as death. Regardless, at the end of the day, who are you to cold heartedly attack people about their experiences with Levequin? Who are you to judge and ignorantly describing a seizure as "flopping around on the floor ?" Having a seizure doesn't mean you have convulsions. One should do some research before looking like an ass. Anyway, as I now watch an other wise healthy, educated woman who never experienced a seizure in her life lie in bed clueless I make a remarkable conclusion... the only change made in her routine was Levequin. So you tell me what would your conclusion be? Or are you too ignorant and I have to explain it to you.
