please send in a medwatch report by going to www.fda.gov. It won't take long and maybe it will help keep this poison away from our children. they want to test it on children!!!!! Please send in the report.
Just to calm your fears a little. The drug as not been shown to be "harmful" to children per say, it just has not been studied in children therefore the FDA cannot or has not approved it's use on children. I think the ER doctor went a little overboard in his reaction. All drugs, even OTC drugs such as motrin or tylenol can have adverse/deadly effects on "the right person". Unfortunatly your son was one of the small percentage of people who had a severe reaction. He probably would have had the same type of reaction taking it at the age of 20 or 25. Levaquin is a tremendously helpful drug and is used everyday, this is a medication in the same family as Cipro, the drug used to treat anthrax. As far as "trusting" the doctor, it always wise to ask questions, healthcare professionals make mistakes, we are human. Not always a comforting thought when your family member is ill, but that is fact. When it comes to my children, I trust myself. If you don't ask, you won't know.
