1/10/08 After coughing for 2 weeks, the NP at the clinic prescribed the vi-Q-tuss. I have never in my life had an allergic reaction to any med. The pharmacist did not give me a consult. I could not sleep at all and I itched from the top of my head to the very tip of my toes. In the morning, I had projectile vomiting and a headache. I do not recommend this. The dang cough is better.
Have you had your gallbladder out? If so and if you take pain meds and have pain similar to gallbladder attack, you are probably experiencing sphincter of oddi dysfunction. The Sphincter of Oddi is a muscular valve that controls the flow of digestive juices (bile and pancreatic juice) through the ampulla of Vater into the second part of the duodenum (First part of the small intestine). It is named after Ruggero Oddi. The Sphincter of Oddi is relaxed by the hormone Cholecystokinin (CCK) via vasoactive intestinal polypeptide.
