My 2 year old son was prescribed Singulair for eczema yesterday and gave him his first dose last night. His bedtime is at 8 and since he is two years old and fights sleep, it normally takes him 30 to 60 minutes to actually fall asleep. He was still awake at 10:30. He couldn't seem to wind down. I knew it was from the Singulair immediately. I woke up this morning and got the prescription literature to see if this is even prescribed for eczema. It didn't say. So I got on Singulair's ...... and nothing about eczema. I then searched ...... and found this website and I am completely blown away by everyone's stories. I think I will take the 30 bucks for next months prescription and buy a humidifier for the apartment and use some Cetaphil lotion. He didn't have breakouts this summer due to the humidity, so I will just make my apartment humid. The doctor not only prescribed Singulair, but also Clarinex. The pharmacy had to order it and I was supposed to pick it up today, but I am going to search the side effects for it first. I will probably just save my money and see what I can do with home remedies.

My 2 year old also recently has had problems with eczema. I have found that Mary Kay Extra Emolient Night Cream works really well. It is almost like Vasoline. His doctor also recommended Dove bath soap.

I'm so glad I found this site too. MI have an 8 year old son whom was diagnosed with asthma. He was automatically prescribed Singulair. He has been on it for a long time. His asthma got worst so the allergist added Zyrtec to his daily regimen. He has been taking Singulair and Zyrtec for a couple of years now. Since time has gone by, they have now been doubled in dosage. He also has to do the nebulizer when he gets a cold or wheezing plus prednisone. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! So I decided to take him to a herbalist. We had the appointment today. He told us that what my son needs is a change in diet. NO MORE WHEAT PRODUCTS and NO MORE GLUTEN. He also suggested we switch from cow's milk to goat's milk. One last thing and the most important thing he wants him to do is, to close his mouth. He said that my son is breathing too much with his mouth and not using his nose. It is so true! He always keeps his mouth semi open. I am enrolling him in yoga classes because this will teach him to control his breathing.

I am so excited to hear that there might be something else out there for my little guy. Something that is drug free. I also have noticed that since he has been on these drugs, his attitute has changed. He has mood swings and his attention span is diminishing. Please guys, look into helping your children without the use of prescription drugs. I don't remember all of this asthma crapp when I was growing up. I was able to play outdoors and eat everything without all of these issues. What is happening here? The drugs have side effects which are causing for our kids to sufer with; depression, ADD, autism, and so on. Let's make a stand and help each other help them.
