I was just wondering...I've been weened off Prednisone the last month or so and today is my last pill. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. However, I've noticed that my joints hurt and my feet oh the pain. Is this normal. I feel like my muscles are weak. walking up a flight of stairs is painful. Anyone know how long this will last or if this is something I will have to live with.

Hi. Unfortunately, corticosteroids induce muscle wasting (among other things). It is difficult to say how long its side effects will last, however, the following steps might be helpful. 5-10g/day of L-Glutamine (use a powdered formula) will help you to gain lean muscles (Whey protein is also helpful). Add 3-4g/day of Omega-3 fats (liquid Cod Liver Oil) to your diet, and one capsule of Borage Oil (Omega-6 fats) which would be helpful with joints pain. Consider an "Adrenal Complex", one fr. the "designs for health" helped me to rejuvenate "tired" adrenal glands. Add a high quality, concentrated (not "one-a-day") multivitamin-mineral supplement ("Nutrient 950" from the "Pure Encapsulations" is a very good example). Be well, and try to stay away fr. corticosteroids.

I too have read that fish oils may help with your joint pain. Hopefully it will help you. I hope you never have to take this terrible drug (Prednisone) again.

I have ITP and had spleen removed two months ago. I cut the prednisone off cold turkey--was on 100 MG daily--and have been having problems since the surgery with swelling in my legs and feet, severe pains in my neck, back and arms. I was told this should only last about a month, however it has been just over two with worsening swelling and pains and I am going to go back to my doctor next week. Wish you luck!!! Jackie

Survivors Of Prednisone Type: Common Interest - Health & Wellness Description: Many of those with auto-immune diseases such as Crohn's Disease are forced to go on a prescribed steroid known as Prednisone. The effects of Prednisone are terrible. Prednisone creates water retention (puffiness) in your face and torso. It causes severe mood swings. It also causes your hair to fall out. And that is just going on the Prednisone. Once you get off the Prednisone, you then have to deal with the adrenal insufficiency as Prednisone can shut down your adrenal glands. There seems to be little support for people who have been on Prednisone. They seem to be left alone to deal with the side effects and the confusion and fear that it causes. This is what this group aims to do: Create a support for People on Prednisone or who have been on Prednisone :) http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7321407847Provide awareness of how Prednisone can and has affected lives. So if you are feeling down or suffering from crazy mood swings or can't handle looking in the mirror anymore then come and let it all out !

I was weaned off of Prednisone one month ago, after being on it for two months. I am having terrible joint pain. It is really hard to get out of bed, do stairs, drive it's terrible. The prednisone also induced diabetes. I have to go for a glucose tolerance test next week. I don't know when it will end. I wish I never took it.
