I have been on Lipitor for several years, but switched to generic Zocor (Simvastatin) for 3-4 weeks because of the high co-pay. I didn't seem to have any bad side effects with Lipitor (or not as bad as Zocor), but have had swollen ankles, sore knees, and difficulty walking for the past couple of weeks--that's why I'm here--to see what others are experiencing.

Hello Linda, I'm on Zocor also and have been expercing my knees aching, feet sorness, shoulder pain and elbow pain which is a lot of the same sypmtoms that many people on Zocor have been dealing with. Has anyone thought about filing a law suit against drug companies making Zocor? What is your thought on this? You can email me at mytoyota7@yahoo.com.

I cant believe all that i am reading on this site. I was on Lipitor 10 mg then 20mg for two yrs. Recently switched to simvastatain 20 mg then 40 mg. because of co-pay. Since starting the statin drugs I have had leg cramps at night and strange nightmares that startled me so bad that i thought i was having a heart attack. When i would try to go to sleep at night my heart would beat so hard that i thought i was going to die. I talked to three different drs about this, they ordered stress test, said no heart problem. I now have an app. with a neorologist. I never thought about the drug causing these problems until three days ago. It just occured to me to try taking the drug in daytime instead of before bed to see what would happen. Took the drug at around noon, about 1 hr later could hardly breath, was exhausted and very emotional, to the point of tears. Still had the same old problems at night. Call Dr, she said to stop drug till i seen neurologist on Apr 8th. I am surprised she would stop the drug cold turkey, but she did. Last night was three days without drug, best night sleep in a long time. After reading everything on this site I am convinced its the drug. I am furious that none of the drs ever suggested it could be a side effect. What is going on?
