I lost my job, my family, my dog, I'm dying, THANKS YASMIN...good lord some people on here are blaming every *** problem on the pill, come on now...going from a size 2 to a size 12, UMMM HELLO...how long would you let yourself gain that much weight, before STOPPING the pill??? Good lord..I understand that the pill isn't right for everyone, but it amazes me how long people continue to take something that isn't doing them any good.

Wow, perhaps your over-the-top rant is a result of Yasmin? The point of this board is to discuss possible side effects of this drug. I do wonder if some people blame a little too much on Yaz, but I was one of the few who had a pulmonary embolism because of it. So I'm going to let people vent and talk about their experiences. If you have a problem with that perhaps you shouldn't be on this board!

That is the purpose of this forum, for people to list their side effects. Some people may blame too much stuff on whatever medicine they are listing, but when your life is falling apart it kind of all goes together. Severe depression can turn into these other things and the weight gain is sometimes pushed on because of doctors saying "that can't be the issue". Are some of these side effects a little dramatic, maybe, and especially to people who haven't gone through this stuff, but when you lose everything due to something that could have been prevented it is devastating.

Like I said..I understand and emphathize with peoples problems, but yes indeed people blame way too many issues on the pill, I'm sorry, it's ridiciulous. Yasmin has been great for me, it's always a little rough the initial first 2 weeks, but after that, it's great, clear skin, helps me maintain weight, and no cramping..etc w/my periods. Then again, I fall into the 'norm' with most things, no severe side effects ever with anything, as of yet. I think so many people just look to other things to place blame on, rather than take a look at themselves and realize that THEY are the problem most of the time. I mean everyone is soooooo frickin pill/prescription happy these days, it's INSANE!

every woman is different. Some have severe side effects and some dont have such bad side effects. You dont know everyone and what they go thru. Like others have said, this board is to discuss similar symptoms and find a common link. The side effects people have discussed all are symptoms that could very well be due to yaz. Thats nice that you have great results but as with ANY medications, peoples reactions are completely different. One persons depression compared to anothers are completely different. These things cannot be compared. Just similar symptoms of two people on a common medication.

hi amber26, i am glad to hear that yasmin is working out well for you,for some people it is the miracle pill we were all told it was. but as great as it is for you is as bad as it is for someone else. the reason many women stay on it for so long when they are getting weird and not so wonderful side effects is that when we go to our gp's or gyno's they tell us there is no way it can be this pill, unfortunately many of us (me included) are so naive we don't dare question what our health care provider has told us. that was the case for me...i loved yasmin for the st 6 months,i had great skin, firmer breasts, lighter periods, less water retention, everything promised so i did not put 2 and 2 together when i started to have spells of nausea and attacks of ibs. when i fainted because my heart rate dropped rapidly i thought nothing of it after it was checked by the gp. when i started to develope anxiety and agoraphobic tendencies i went to see a psychiatrist/counceller with no joy because there were no problems in my past or present,i was happily married, had 2 wonderful daughters and money in the bank, nothing had changed to trigger such problems so i asked could it be the yasmin...reply "oh no,hormones don't do things like that!".......anyone who has ever suffered from post natal depression, pmdd, or psychotic episodes after giving birth will know that hormones absolutely CAN do that!
whilst yasmin is not to blame for everything it is certainly a trigger in some people. yes it is partially our fault for not being more observant or trusting of ourselves and our bodies but it is also the fault of the medical proffession who deny that this drug could cause these side effects when they know for a fact it can but choose not to admit it because it is a great money spinner for them.
until you have experinced how bad this pill (and i'm sure many many others) are please don't just assume that we are all a load of moaning pre-menstrual nut jobs looking for someone to blame......i will keep my fingers crossed for you that you never find yourself "googling" yasmin and serious side effects/depression/anxiety.pulmonary embolism, cancer etc....
best wishes & happy new year to you.

reply to amber.... I thought Yasmin was great.. until the side effect hit me all at once. there were no signs that anything was wrong. and as for the other symptoms that everyone else is discribing such as mood changes and other emotional roller coasters well it doesnt say much about them on the "white pages". and as for using it for Hormone Replacement Therapy. ... it has no statistics on that written on them. Wish i would of thought of that before taking them even when my doctor asured me they were very safe.

Just so you know dear I was only on the pill for 5 months. I stopped to begin preperation to concieve another child. Unfortunately the side effects kicked in after I stopped. For six months after stopping I experienced depression, fatigue, vaginal dryness, non existent sex drive(and my husband is sexy as hell and a great lover) nausea, hair loss, and I gained 22 pounds. I went to the doctor several times and listed all of the problems I was having and they blamed it on thyroids...doctors have your records right in front of them when you are telling them this, and I am sure that they are not going to tell you what is wrong because that is admitting they made a mistake...I guess you are one of the fortunate ones who have not experienced any of this and therefore are wasting your time reading any of our responses....keep taking it and get back at us after you stop..I am looking forward to hearing how that goes.
