I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I too suffered from the generic form of the medicine. My doctor took me off cold turkey because he was exasperated with me. I took toprol for 2 years with little problem but in Aug was switched to generic for it, metoprolol and started experienceing problems (numbness, vision problems, aches and pains, insomnia, depression, panic attacks, burning chest, persistent sore throat) When I went to doctor, he told me basically I was a hypochondriac! He took me off about Nov 12 and it was a pretty bad experience. Most of the numbness and stuff is gone, I am still dealing with muscle weakness in legs (jelly legs) but am sleeping well. My point is I don't think anyone knows what this stuff will do to you or how long it lingers in your system once you stop. If you ask 10 different doctors I bet you would get 10 different answers. My doctor said 2 days. One pharmacist said 1 week another said 2...who knows really and that's scary. Hang in there and best of luck getting off of it. I have been truly blessed by not having to take anything else. My blood pressure evened out. Take care and I pray this gives you hope!
