I experienced bad anxiety symptoms and depression the first day of taking avelox. I didn't put two and two together til I was already taking it for 6 days. 6 days of feeling horrible. I would never take it again, I've been off of it now for 2 days and feeling much better, not 100% though, still get an anxious feeling here and there but they're fading.
On another note, my father in law just got done taking it for 14 days without a symptom.
Some of us just can't take these types of meds.

I was given Avelox on January 2nd for a lingering sinus infection. I took the medication with dinner around 6 p.m. and by 7 my heart was pouding out of my chest, I had severe anxiety, and disorientation. My husband called 911 and by the time the paramedics arrived at our home my heart rate was 211 (normal being 70-80) I had to be rushed to the hospital and was given a beta-blocker to slow heart rate, ativan for the anxiety and benadryl for the reaction. For days after I experienced severe headaches, nausea, and anxiety. It's been almost a week and I still feel the after affects of that medication. The hospital kept telling me how "rare" this was but after reading all these posts I feel validated.

you know I read these posts about the anxiety and I if any one could validate the anxiety attacks as an effect from being on Avelox in august for over a week that would be helpful. I still have the anxiety and sill take xanax as needed I do not take it everday but some days I do need to. I guess my question would be to hope that eventually the anxiety well cease. I pray that all who read this well heal quickly from your physical illness.

I took the first dose of avelox for a sinus infection, at about the 8pm (once per day). By the next morning my lips were raw and my throat itchy and I felt like I had eaten a ton of shellfish (allergic) and it was stinging all through out my body. We had a catered breakfast at work so I thought maybe they had prepared some kind of shellfish in the same area, not to mentioned I had taken it before with no problems. So, i took pill number two...very bad idea. My face, lips and inner mouth completely swollen, i could not eat because of the pain in my mouth and my heart was racing. I called my doc and she changed me to something else to get rid of the initial problem with the sinus infection and she gave me the medrol to work on the side effects. Well, I have completed the steroids about a week ago and I have been itching like crazy and my mouth swelling again. How long does this stuff stay in your system? This is the only thing that makes since.
