I must say that I HATE this medicine. I have been on it for about 30 years. Constantly like playing a game. Too much then too little. It is driving me crazy. I swear that I have tremors from it. I also have gain lots of weight and my hair falls out everyday. Surprised I am not bald yet. I use to be able to go to the gym for 5-6 days a week and now it is soooo hard to get out of bed in the morning. I truly wish that there was something that I could do. I have had one side of my thyroid taken out and now have to go and get a ultra sound of the other side. Still cant figure out why the doctor took one side and not the other when the other side had nodules too. I am so tired of it and just don't know what to do. I do know that I will be definitely speaking with my endo and even if my levels are okay she has to do something to help me.

Hi, I don't know where you live, but I suggest you check out The Cole Center For Healing in West Chester, Ohio, www.colecenter.com. If that is too far for you, find a GOOD osteopath in your area. They will be able to help you. You may find that you will do better with Armour Thyroid medicine instead of Synthroid. Synthroid, from my understanding does not contain all of the necessary hormones that our thyroids produce. Armour Thyroid on the other hand contains all of them, which if memory serves me it's 12. Yes, it comes from organically fed pigs, but it is the closest to the human thyroid hormones. Most doctors do not like to use it because they do not understand a whole lot about the thyroid and it does take time to get it right. Your symptoms, hair loss, weight gain, the extreme tiredness and feeling like a ton of bricks trying to get out of your bed in the morning and your inability to exercise are all signs of hypothyroidism. In your case, you are actually missing part of your thyroid, so the proper function is not there. You will continue to feel worse if you do not get the right help you need. Many Americans either go misdiagnosed, undiagnosed or are only treated with Synthroid and never get their lives back. I do hope you get the healing you need. I have suffered with hypothyroidism for years and in May I finally did something about it and am on my way to recovery. It will be a good while before I am healed, but I know that it will be in my future.
