42 Year old male; Active, have been on Lipitor 9 months. Started back on the drug last spring, Ride wave runners every weekend, thought I've had whiplash for months, extremely sore/stiff neck, severe muscle pain in shoulders and neck I am convinced its Lipitor not whiplash. Only advice my doctor can give is "see a Chiropractor", no help! I am stopping Lipitor right now and will await changes, Cannot believe after multiple visits to my doctor concerning my shoulder/neck issue he never once considered Lipitor. After doing an internet search for muscle pain, I stumbled across Lipitor's relationship to muscle pain. If my pain stops I will be very grateful.

I am a 51 year old male, in good health, I am very active - your post is amazing! My cardiologist prescribed Lipitor - he said that my cholesterol was a "little high", but was ok. I asked him about the side effects by taking Lipitor - I was concerned about 'sexual' side effects - he replied that there "might some soreness in the muscles, nothing more". After the first day or so my muscles in my legs were very sore, like when I played football in school. After a few days the soreness went away. I continueed to take the drug - skipped for about a week due to not having my prescription refilled - started a few days ago, and today I have an incredible stiffness in my shoulder and neck muscles! Like I have whiplash, or something. Then I read your post - AMAZING!!! I will not take this stuff anymore. Thank you.

I too am a victim of Lipitor. After taking this med for about a year, I stopped due to upcoming surgery. Guess what - it was lower back surgery! I have had neck surgery several years ago. Now, for the past several months, my neck and shoulders hurt again like they did before that surgery. I have complained to my doctor and to the surgeon about my knees and hips hurting all the time. they say there is nothing wrong! How can they say there is nothing wrong when I know my body. I have worked all my life - btw, I am 54, and I have never hurt like this before. I have not taken Lipitor for about 13 months now.. I still hurt, am not as active as I used to be, and my sex drive is ziltch!
I am glad one of my nieces sent me this article to read.. I will not take anymore Lipitor.. Give me an aspirin or like to take!

I had been taking Lipitor for about a year and developed muscle pain starting from the neck to my shoulder. I thought its me doing too much tennis so I continued taking Lipitor. Been to neuro, had MRIs, ortho, chiro and no one can tell the cause of my pain. On April, I experienced tingling on my left arm so I stopped Lipitor because hearing horrible stories. Now, its 2008, it has been 9 months, I'm still having some muscle tightness and some tingling. I'm doing exercises as well as taking vitamins to flush out any toxins that Lipitor did. Slowly recovering...
