I have been on methadone for about a year now. I started at 90mgs a day and it seemed to help my fibromyalgia but now in a period of 6 months I have gained 62 lbs.I went from 109lbs to171lbs at 5ft 4in. I am fat my husband will not have a thing to do with me. He thinks I can just stop the methadone no problem. After all I have read about the withdrawals I am now scared to death, Where do I find help? Is there anything my doctor can prescribe that will make any easier? Oh and I should have mentioned that I have gone down to 40 mgs a day on my own, its hard and some days the pain is so unbearable I have gone up to 60mgs.

you can take a blood pressure med called Clonidine and this will help with the high blood pressure and then there is Robaxin is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. It really helps for the massive leg cramps. i believe its a non nar. as well. this is what a friend of mine used when getting off the same thing.withdrawls can be scary. and i know how you feel about your husband. i am on oxycodone for my back pain and he thinks it is just as easy as flushing them down the toilet then its done. but theres the pain of withdrawls and even after them you still have to go through the mental pain. i have tryed to detox once before and i broke. it is not something recommended to do on your own.and that what i try to do. so you if you do try to do it on your own heres some things to try. but if not i would recommened going to a rehab for the help.you will still feel the withdrawls but not half as bad. but i do understand how you feel because im there in the same boat. so if you need some one to talk to grab a paddle .and we will row up the river together.lol
