My mother is on Geodon. I cant remember how long shes been on it. but in the changes I have seen in her. I want her off ASAP. she used to enjoy life...you know..going to work, going out with friends, talking and hanging out with me but now I don't even recognize her. to me its like she is a zombie. all she does now is just sits at the house and watches TV all day. and as far as talking to her....it seems like shes not even interested in having a normal conversation with anybody. I think shes taking a bigger MG than she should but that cant be it cuz shes only taking 60mgs twice a day. half of the things she says I can barely understand. I have to listen carefully or I have to ask her to repeat what she said. anybody have ANY COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW

I was on 40mg of Geodon for 5 days, and 80mg for two days. I began to have facial twitches, mood swings, jiggling legs, etc. I couldn't sit still, was walking in circles, forgetting things, and it felt like snakes were in my head. As soon as I got out of hospital I quit taking Geodon and the withdrawal began. Two weeks of hell. Palsie, convulsions, wild mood swings, psychosis, you name it. IMHO, the stuff is poison. I quit cold turkey, which is apparently the hardest way to do it. All the info suggests a gradual weaning. I am currently taking Depakote and Valium to control seizures and guarantee at least some sleep every night (I had been unable to sleep for nearly a week, tripping like on some bad acid). Luckily, I have a regular Psychiatrist other than the prescribing doctor who put me on the addictive poison Geodon. You should know the FDA has sent a warning letter to Pfizer for advising doctors to prescribe Geodon "off-label". Geodon is an "atypical anti-psychotic" drug, developed to treat schizophrenia. It is now being used to treat bi-polar. THE TIME HAS COME TO BRING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I have known heroin addicts who had less sever withdrawal than what I faced in these past two-plus weeks. And it is not over. I had a bad seizure today. Some of these side-effects can be permanent. Get your mom off this drug and find a new doctor ASAP!

Is she drinking any alcohol? Any at all? Even 1-2 drinks?
Unless she's overdosing...I HIGHLY DOUBT Geodon is her problem.
Maybe she's really depressed? Geodon is an antipsychotic. Maybe she needs to try something else. YOUR IMPUT IS PROBABLY THE BEST THING FOR HER. Let her know how you feel and how her behavior has changed. That might make her re-think her therapy and give her a reason to talk to her doctor about the side effects she is experiencing. It's like having a buger in your nose...if nobody tells you it's there...you could walk around FOREVER until you, yourself finally notices.
