I'm with you! I didn't even know most of these "problems" were associated with Lamictal. Three of my children and I all take Lamictal and I think it is the best thing since sliced bread. My other BP child takes Trileptal which has worked wonderfully for her for years. I'm even surprised to hear people talking about weight gain related to Lamictal. Has anyone had to take Lithium?! We've never taken it, but isn't Depakote supposed to pile on the pounds, too? How about Zyprexa or some of the others? Lamictal has been weight neutral for my family, and even Seroquel is better than the other atypicals if you have to go there. Also everyone seems so pleased they are not "on an anti-depressant" now that they're on Lamictal. Lamictal also has the great thing of being the only mood stabilizer that has an anti-depressent part, for lack of better word, to it.
Lamictal works great for me too! I had to increase my dosage very slowly because each time started taking more I would feel nauseous often. If I forget to take it I will feel nauseous the next day. BUT...since I have trained myself to remember to take it and have been taking it for awhile, I currently see no side effects and lots of positive results. I fell confident, happy, energetic and sometimes I just can't believe I am me! The cost of Lamictal for me is almost breaking my bank since I just have shitty student insurance but it works so well for me that I accept that I need to take out more student loans to pay for it. I probably wouldn't be able to finish school if I wasn't on it. I might have gained a few pounds from it, but not enough for me to stop taking it.
