I have been taking Lipitor for several years now, 40 mil. About a month ago I started having terrible shooting pains in my left hip. Within a day or so the pain had also started in the calf of my leg, like a cramp that wouldn't go away. My left calf all the way to the tip of my toes felt numb and tingly like it was asleep and it feels as though I don't have control of my leg or foot. The pain got so bad I couldn't walk. It would get better for a day or so and then come back again. It got so bad I couldn't walk, stand or sit. The only way I could get any relief was to stay in bed in one certain position. I stopped taking Lipitor on my own. It has been over a month now and I still have pain but isn't as bad most of the time. This pain is so terrible I hope writing this note will help others. I'm wondering if I will ever be normal again. I was a very active 58 year old but now I feel like a crippled 100 year old. They should take this drug off the market or at least warn people of what it will do to them.

My husband was on Lipitor for about 2 years. About 3 months ago he got a flu shot....then who knows if it was related, he became very ill. Very tired, fever, felt awful! While he was still in bed ill, his thighs began hurting and burning....I made him stop taking the Lipitor immediately. So here we are three months down the road...he gets severe knee/joint pain...some days that is better and then he gets severe muscle burning and pain. The third kind of pain he gets is these phantom/random sharp stabbing pains. He can barely work. He is afraid to take time off of work to try to recover, because he is afraid that the company doctor will never approve him to come back to work. My husband is a very good man...and we have so much on our plate. Our 23 year old son is profoundly retarded and terminally ill...he is total care! Then my dear husband sold our home, bought a large home, and allowed my mother (heart and kidney failure), my step-father (age 83), and their four adopted teenagers to move in with us...as we assumed the care for them. How many men would do this!? It makes me incredibly sad to see him suffer....and then you have the unknown prognosis.....I am an RN, and right now I do not think too highly of the medical professionals and drug companies!
