I am a 43 year-old female, and have been on Lipitor for quite sometime now, at least 6 years. My doctor told me to watch for muscle pain as a side effect. After being on it for a year with no muscle pain, I was told my chances of developing a side effect at that point was very slim. About 2 years ago I developed severe foot pain which was diagnosed as plantar fasciitis, I went through PT and was put in a brace. Eventually I stopped the PT, not that the pain was gone, but I didn't feel that it was doing any good. I have not been without pain for the past 2 years. Since I am 15 pounds over what "they" consider my ideal weight, the foot pain has been blamed on that. I now have pain in the sides of both my feet and in the past 2 month its progressed to the the inside of my foot just below my ankle. I get pains which I can only describe as what feels like nerves snapping when I'm standing or walking. It is so much worse when I rest for awhile and then stand up. I feel like my walking days are limited. In addition to the foot pain, about 7 months ago I developed pain in my left hip. The first time I noticed it I thought I had bruised it in some way, but that also has gotten progressively worse. And about a month ago I've developed pain in my left elbow. Libido? What Libido???? I never considered any of these symptoms to be related to Lipitor until my husband recently mentioned that one of his co-workers was taken off Lipitor by his doctor after being on it for years because of joint pain that he developed. As luck would have it, I only have one pill left--my prescription needs to be refilled, but I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor instead. I hesitate doing so, for the same reason that I've haven't gone to the Doctor about any of it after having had gone through PT---I don't think I'm going to be told anything other than I should lose the extra 15 pounds I'm carrying. But after reading all these postings, I can't help but think my problems are very likely related to the 6 years or so that I have been on Lipitor and I don't want to be on it any longer.

I a 53 year old female. I have been on lipitol since 2004 (about 3 years). First taking the medication, I experienced an aching feeling in my thighs. I had no idea at first, but I could not stand to climb stairs and to just put weight on my legs. After a while of taking the medication, that pain disappeared. I noticed that if I missed the medication for a week and then start taking it again, I would have the same pain.

My concern today is: I have not taken the lipitol for approximately 2 weeks. I have been experiencing pain in my fingers; my right knee is not aching, but if I bend my knee...it is almost like it will lock up in the joint. I was placed on the medication due to the irregular heart beats. I have never had high cholesterol. I am also hypertensive. This is a prevention; the heart specialist also recommended that I take lipitol

Since reading the messages here, I am very tempted 'not' to re-fill my lipitol prescription.

Im 39 and I've been using lipitol for a while now...no side effects feel great... infact I was thinking it actually helped my lower back pain leave. The only muscle soreness i get now is when I work out really hard, but I think that is just normal soreness. Maybe you guys with all this body soreness should consider a different reason other than lipitol.. as far as im concerned I say if lipitol helps you ..take it. Most of the people who experience side effects like what I've been reading are probably people who don't eat the right kind of foods and their body is screaming at them. Stop blaming lipitol...or anything else.. start eating right you will be back in order fast.
