Your poor Daughter is suffering terrible side effects from this poisonous drug. She needs to be tapered off VERY slowly. Say .o5 mg (one half milligram) every 14 to 16 days or longer~ whatever her body can tolerate! Check with her Doctor and find a safe tapering programme for her. Dont taper her too quickly! Even the TAPER will be very hard on her and her body!! You will probably see her say and do things you would never imagine she is capable of, until she is *completely weaned off! She may STILL be getting side effects up tom three years later from this poison!
It really messes up your mind and causes her not to even think or act properly. It is a terrifying drug or an adult to be on and taper off of!? It is a veritable living hell to get off of!
I can't imagine what this terror would do to a child?
Here are some websites for you to review. It may give you some info about how bad this poison is for people! http://www.jeannene.org/prednisone.html
and here is one:http://www.marshallprotocol.com/forum2/1917.html
I cannot do too much to help her. Only she has to go thru these horrible withdrawals and tapering until she is off of it. Best not to let her go back on the poison anymore once she is off! Find an alternative treatment for athsma~please~!
Here are just a *few of the side effects I experienced when I was in withdrawal. I can't imagine 12 year old child dealing with this!
God Bless her and keep her! :o(

Hi...its me again. Here is another website for you to look at and get more information. God Bless you both. Its going to be very hard on her and you. The LAST thing she needs is MORE drugs to 'control' her behavours from a shrink. She does not realise what she is doing. She will get better. You just have to give her time.
I too have a 12yr old daughter who has had regular steroids thruout her life being a chronic asthmatic and she is out of control, constantly depressed, tired and generally make our and her sisters life hell..we have been told by GP she is just "naughty" as she is so polite around other people,we think differently as her behaviour is so strange and obsesive at times,we are waiting to see a phsycologist and end month but I thought I would do some research meanwhile incase they fob me off.I know this doesnt help but just to let u know u are not alone!
I'm experiencing the same things with my mother who has also very quickly lost her short term memory too. we are coming off the drug in the hope we can get things back on an even keel
You're life must be hard but its definately the drugs
I am assuming you are all living in the United States. I lived there for years and was asstounded in the lack of knowledge in your doctors. Prednisone is a VERY serious drug!! There is NO NEED for children this young to be taking it for MONTHS!!!!!!! It shouldn't be taken for more than a week or two at best.... I have been diagnosed with asthma since I was 6. As a child I wasn't allowed to play in gym class while on new meds. I have been on everything they have for asthma. It can be controlled with inhaled steroids such as symbicort and Prednisone should only be used in extreme emergencies or when the child is sick. This treatment will cause permanent damage to her renal gland... you might want to look up what this gland does for your body... you can't really live without it!!
Dear Parents:
Start questioning your doctors... don't just take their extreme drug dosages as a sign that your child is seriously sick... its just a sign of a doc wanting to please you with a prescription and keep you coming back to his clinic... whomever said it was right, they don't do enough research... it's up to you to investigate!!
GET OFF THE PREDNISONE BEFORE YOU KILL HER!!!!!
these posts are making me sick!
I developed extreme anxiety after catching a weird respiratory virus, which included symptoms of heavy nasal congestion, chronic sore throat, and many unpleasant psychological effects.

I have a 5yr old who has been in and out of the hospital since 6mos old with asthma. They frequently give him prednisone to help him get over the hump. He always gets moody and very cranky. He was in the hospital Monday with his asthma and they started him on the steriods. When we got discharged Wed he was completely out of control and acting crazy. He was threating to kill me..he is 5!!! I called the pulmonary nurse who said she had heard many parents complain of this same problem. The doctor wants him to stay on it, but I told her there is no way I will give him another dose. I hope his asthma can be controlled in another way..he already takes advair twice a day and uses his inhaler and nebulizer often..
