I put a post on 12/31 with my concerns. Well I decided to play it safe and remove my Mirena. It was one week as of Friday. I didn't hurt too bad, a pinch and some cramping afterward. But I took a Tylenol beforehand. I still feel most of the side effects as before (anxiety, insomnia etc.) the only one is the constant flush feeling. My period was a little heavy the second day but I was due for my period anyway. I am barely spotting now. I'm sure it will take awhile for my body to get back to normal again, since I had the IUD inserted 4 weeks after my son was born (7/2/6). So my body hasn't had a normal menstrual cycle in years (birth control before my son, and I didn't like how that made me feel . I read that the hormone from Mirena doesn't get out of your system for about 20 days. I am looking forward to feeling good again. My body apparently doesn't like anything foreign in it, so no birth control pills for me or any hormone releasing mechanism (even though getting your period normally STINKS) I'll just do the old fashion way. Thanks for sharing your stories, it did help. Take care

Hello,

I have my Mirena removed a week ago and I too am still feeling the anxiety and insomenia effects. I had mine in for 1 and a half and it was my last resort. Can not take the pill due to effects, the Deprovera was a nightmare and I was very disappointed that the Mirena was so harsh on my body. I feel slightly better but since having it put in my blood pressure rose and I can still feel the flushing effects. Hopefully everything will settle down so I know exactly where you are at and I have found it almost impossible to find after effect information once Mirena is removed so thank you so much for your posting. TLC
