Hi,
I have been on Topamax for several months now and stayed at a very low dose for a long time. Migraines slowed at first just a little but then got worse, almost debilitating. I thought the medicine wasn't working, so I quit since I didn't like it anyway because of hair issues also, dry mouth, dingy feeling, etc. But I kept getting sicker and the migraines were getting daily and so severe at least twice a week I'd end up in bed crying and with an ice pack across my face, eye, and neck for relief. The hair issue? I am wondering if perhaps it wasn't just due to some severe dehydration as a result of the drying effect of the medication. My heart went out to you with your problem because of your upcoming wedding. First, I want to say that I am Caucasian but hair is really big deal to me because of my religious belief. I don't cut my hair at all and it is "very" long, almost at the back of my knees. The medicine makes it so dry, it was awful for a while. I use lots of moisturizers now and have learned some helpful things. Some advice? Don't sleep under fans, excessive heat, hot hairdryers, curling irons...I hope that doesn't sound terrible. Your special and wonderful day is coming or may have already come by now, I don't know. But you are worth the expense...SPLURGE!! See a GOOD hairstylist and I know you will be absolutely stunning on your wedding day!!! GOD BLESS and may your future be filled with joy!!!!
