I'm 22 years old... I'd been off of birth control for 2 years when I started NuvaRing in October. My gyno said it was great with very few side effects. I have always had really clear, pretty skin, but since I have started NuvaRing, I have had awful breakouts. I am constantly nauseated, have terrible headaches and the mood swings are unbearable. My fiance thought I was losing it - I'd be high as a kite one minute, then rock bottom the next. Luckily I found this site... does anyone have any recommendations as far as other options? Is OrthoEvra (patch) worth it? Please reply... thanks, ladies!

I was on the patch a few years ago and I had horrible horrible headaches to the point where I was in the ER. I was told it was due to the patch and to get off of Immed. Also around that time there were a few young women that died due to blood clots from the patch. I would not reccomend it. I was on Mirena that IUD I loved it, but after having 2 kids my uterus would not hold it in place. My periods got much lighter and I had no cramps and it is good for 5 years. I have to say it is not very comfortable when they are inserting it, but my cramps were gone with in an hour or so. if you are looking for long term reliable bc then go for Mirena. Hope this helps you. I am on the nuva ring as of today as my IUD would not stay in place for longer than 3 months, but that is just because how my uterus is shaped.

Please do not use the patch! Where I work, on a daily basis I speak to hundreds of women who have been close to death due to the Ortho Evra Patch and I am telling you now that it is not a good idea...Just think about it...A patch that can give hormones to everyone overtime? It's delivering too high of a level of hormones to your body and this results in severe blood clots in the legs, lungs, strokes, heart attacks and death! NuvaRing I have heard is not any better...I have spoken to attorneys who are currently taking blood clot and death cases from women who have used the NuvaRing so I would be careful! Also I you want more info or would like to speak to an attorney regarding your situation with BC and blood clots please visit my website or contact me ksage@anattorneyforyou.com.
