I took Levaquin for the first time last week (500 mg for 7 days). By the fourth day, I began experiencing pain in my knees. Now I can barely walk or go up and down stairs. The pain I experience on sitting and standing is horrific. My doctor first put me on 800 mg of ibuprofen and it didn't touch it. The pain is so bad that I have been crying and extremely nervous. Now I am taking Benadryl and will see the doctor again tomorrow. I am very upset because I have read that some of this muscle/tendon damage suffered by others has been irreversible. I will pray for you and please keep me in your thoughts, also. Cathy
My question now is, How long does this pain last? I haven't taken any Levaquin for 2 days, my doctor told me to stop. Turning in my sleep wakes me up because I feel the pain (aches). I bent down, like a squat, this morning to get a pair of shoes, used the shoe rack and the wall to walk myself up so I could stand up. Standing up after sitting at my desk my thighs hurt so bad. My legs feel like I did 500 squats during a work-out. Trust me I didn't. I'm hoping I stopped taking Levaquin, shouldn't the pain go away. Let me know if any of you can shed some light on the situation after we stop taking the medicine, what happends with the pain. Thank you very much.
I have taken Levaquin twice. The first time I took it I described it to the pharmacist exactly the way you described. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. He said that was a common side effect and it should go away after about 3 days. I told him I had already been on it for 5 days and he thought that was strange. Eventually , the pain did go away though.
The second time I took it was 2 months ago to the day. My last day of taking it I started to experience blurred vision and the sound of grasshoppers and crickets along with ringing. My vision is not blurred anymore but the noises are still quite loud. I'm fearful that it has caused permanent hearing loss. I'm glad my sister-in-law told me to check this web-site because I felt really ignorant saying I thought Levaquin harmed me.
