I'm five months postpartum and quit the mini-pill a few days ago and started NuvaRing as soon as the bleeding started (yesterday morning). I have never felt so aggressive in my life! Perhaps it the combination of getting off one BC method and onto another, but this is awful! I feel angry toward my baby and my husband. Do I need a break or a new BC? Before I got pregnant, the pill made me feel even worse, crying all the time. Now I just feel volatile and mean.

first and second time had different side effects-read on.....I was previously on the nuvaring for 4 months and experienced incredible bloating to the point I had to wear 2 sizes bigger-this was my ONLY side effect. I went off it and spent the next year switching birth controls and nothing would work-I would spot after 2 weeks, and yes I tried EVERY pill! I was so frustrated that I decided to try the nuvaring again because after all-it had worked, just made me gain water weight. I have now been on it again for 4months, have not gained weight this time and everything is working out great. My only side effect this time was for the first 3weeks I was an emotional wreck like I have never been in my life. I actually bought 2 pregnancy tests because I was so crazy. I had outbursts for no reason and felt very angry-I had just gotten married less than a month prior so my life was fantastic and I couldn't understand the problem. I would cry and felt upset most of the time. I was overall just angry at the world for no real reason. I attribute it to the hormonal changes going on in my body and getting used to the ring. I am fine now, no problems. Oh yeah, and my sex drive decreased for a couple of months but is coming back and my breasts have increased in size(this has never happened for me with any other bc). I think with the nuvaring you just need to let it ride for a few months to get your body adjusted. I waited it out this time and I am so happy I did because it is super convenient! Give it a chance to work itself out!!

I think you should try different birth control. I tried Nuvaring last year for 3 months and found I was also angry- even enraged at my children and husband. My brother even noticed I seemed very "edgy" even when I visited him without my family. I retried this fall (now on month 4) and I'm ending up the same way- but now more depressed with some milder anger issues. I"m going to chalk it up to the ring (thought I'd try again since I thought maybe I had been stressed out from the holidays last year). But I think my family will be happier if I get off this ring! I hope I will be too- now I know how depressed people feel. Give your child and your husband and yourself relief and change bc method! Best wishes!

While I certainly am not happy this has happened to you, I am relieved to know that I am not alone. I am 5 1/2 months postpartum, and have been on the ring for 3 months. I have never felt such anger, frustration, or even "rage" ever before in my life! I've been blaming my extreme crankiness on the stress of being an at-home mom to my infant and 2 1/2 year-old. It sure isn't easy to take care of a toddler and infant, but it shouldn't make you this crazy either! I have been extremely short with my husband and kids and I'm clenching my teeth so frequently that I fear they'll fall right out someday soon! I've been experiencing some of the other side effects as well - loss of sex drive, weepiness, etc. After scrolling through these posts, I've decided it's time to take the ring out. If it's not the ring, then it's something psychological that needs attention soon! Thanks for posting your story - and best of luck!
