This may take 3 to 6 months ;)
Hi. I want to let you know you are not alone on the severe mood changes. I had mine taken out in Sept 2007 after having it in less than a year. I had such bad mood changes and crying spells. I was set of on an angry rant very easily. I was so bad that my ex(he was my fiance at the time) and I thought that I was bi-polar or something. At least that is how I felt. And in case anyone is wondering...yes, part of the reason he is now my ex is because my mood swings were so bad he couldnt handle it anymore. I had it taken out and it took just a few weeks for my moods to get back to normal. Of course my general doctor had to put me on anti-depressants until my hormones could level back out. He is the one that told me the reason for my mood swings was due to the Mirena IUD. I am not saying that it is like this for everyone but it was for me. Also a side note: my acne got very bad. I have always been prone to hormonal outbreaks but Mirena made it 10 times worse and I started to get break outs on my back, where I had never gotten them before. It was really bad.
This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Mirena. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Mirena, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways.
