I am not sure if the Lisinopril is my problem. I have been on it for 3 yrs now. I do not have HBP -never had it. I developed Type II diabetes and am on Metformin. In the last two months, I have developed dizziness and light headedness. Also, last two months, heart palpations - and the itching is driving me crazy. Skin has developed tender sites - like the skin feels like very thin paper. I think I am going to stop it - even reading what's on this page - it may be what's causing these strange things. I did not know it was from viper venom. I also have dry mouth, but no consistent cough. Every now and then.

I too am a type II diabetic on Metformin, and most recently, Lisinopril. I have been on the Metformin for 7 months with no problems. I was recently changed from Altace to the Lisinopril two weeks ago. I was fine until a few days ago, then all of the funny symptoms started. First the diarrea, then the kidney pain, the dreams, the acne, and now - a funny taste in my mouth that is repulsive. Anything sweet now tastes disgusting. It is mostly on the back of my tongue, and I feel like my throat is closing up. I can't even enjoy a glass of orange juice anymore. I wonder if these strange symptoms are a result of the Lisinopril. I am going to call my doctor today and tell him that I will not take it anymore, and that he has to prescribe a different drug for me. I don't have HBP, but the medication is prescribed as a protective measure for my kidneys while I am taking Metformin. I had no problems with Altace.

Has anyone else experienced the strange taste in the mouth? I haven't had the dry cough or the numbness in the arms.

Please respond if you like.

Hi there maybe you should get your doctor to check your B.P as it may be low ane that could be causing dizziness and lightheadedness!! Your G.P has probably prescribed lisinopril because of your diabetes and lisinopril has a protective effect on the kidneys (supposedly) Hope this helps, Regards and best wishes Jill xx

I have the throat issue, started a year ago when I started this drug. I have been off it for 12 days now, still have the throat issue (tickle, coughing, voice froggy). Hope it subsides. They say it takes a month to get this drug out of your system....I am waiting.

My mother is a diabetic and was put on both Lisinopril and Metformin just like you. I cared for my mother and I saw her experience some of the same side effects that you are describing.

I recall her being very itchy and her skin looking very dry. It's hard to say which drug was causing the problem since she took them both at the same time, but after reading the side effects of the Lisinopril from other people on this website, I would consider finding out what is causes these symptoms by a process of elimination. By the looks of other people's side effects with this drug, it may be caused by the Lisinopril.

Good luck!
