I'm so glad that I found this site and know that I'm not going through this alone. I started the NuvaRing after not being on birth control for 2 years. Previously I've been on the pill and the patch. I'd heard great things about the ring and thought I'd give it a try. The first three months I loved it. Around month four, I started having pain during sex. It felt like I wasn't getting lubricated enough. Then on top of the pain during sex, I would have a burning sensation after sex when I went to the bathroom. I've also been experiencing a lot of hunger and weight gain around my stomach, which hasn't ever been an issue before. The past month I've had little to no sex drive, and have to wait at least a day after sex before I can attempt to do it again. I'm only 27 and know this isn't normal. Last week I had my period for only 2 days. I thought there was something psychologically wrong with me, especially having no sex drive when I'm with someone that I'm incredibly attracted to. After reading everyone else's similar experiences, I'm taking this ring today and voicing my concern to my doctor first thing tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone in getting back to how we were before the ring.

OMG. I can't believe what I'm reading. I simply googled side effects of Nuva Ring and found people who experience similar things. I've been on the Ring for nearly 2 years and have been enjoying it for the most part. I don't have to remember to take it everyday and get paranoid if I miss a day and I can keep the secrecy of it from friends and family. I'm 27 years old and have always been healthy and happy. While I haven't had any of the other symptoms like acne, weight gain, etc. I feel like I have no sex drive. I have pain during intercourse most of the time and I frequently feel dry. I just thought I was weird or abnormal because I never feel like having sex with my longtime, amazing boyfriend. My gyno at Planned Parenthood said she hasn't heard of those complaints with the Ring. Also, since last August, I've been feeling restless at nights with leg cramping but the doctors ruled out Restless Leg Syndrome and the MRI's came out clear.
Has anyone else experienced restless legs at night since starting the Ring?

I want to get off of it to get my drive back but that means sacrificing secrecy and peace of mind. Are there any birth control options that are better than the Ring?

I have had the same kind of pain during/after sex as well! I'm 26 and a newly wed, and my husband is starting to feel like he's the problem. After 9 months on the NuvaRing, I have taken it out tonight and will not be on it again.
