You should do some research on low progesterone. I believe that the synthetic progestin in the Mirena suppresses your body from making natural progesterone. Natural Progesterone is used in treatment for thinning hair. I have suffered with the Mirena for 4 years and never questioned that it could be causing my symptoms. Have your progesterone level at day 20 of your cycle checked. Chances are if it is low bioidentical progesterone could help you. I am hoping that after the removal of the Mirena my natural levels of progesterone will return- but until then I will have to take Micronized progesterone. I AM TOO YOUNG FOR THIS! I believe that big drug companies are feeding young women synthetic progestin and then following up with lots of antidepressants. I feel that my children have been robbed of my previous happy- up beat personality for the past 4 years. Who cares if you don't have a period, because I had no libido. I just didn't tie the two together. I too, would rather be pregnant than have this IUD. I am not an alarmist, I just want to get the word out there that having it removed could be an answer- that I found too late.
