Geodon seems to make most people pass out an hour or two after taking it. Not just fall asleep, actually pass out like a drunk person. I take Adderall and Lamictal, all for bulimia and depression. Both of these will interfere with sleep but the Geodon counteracts both of them. I have to be careful when I take it becasue I will be out cold where ever I am when it kicks in.
I'm 19, on Vyvanse (basically Adderall) and Clonasipam (an low level anti-anxiety drug) in the morning, with 80mg of Geodon at night. I experience the same extreme drowsiness when I wake up (and for hours afterward). It sucks, doesn't it? When I take it at night, I never have that "pass out" effect that people talk about...quite the opposite! I'll stay up super late and then feel like I can't even move in the morning. It feels almost paralyzing. Anyway, I asked my doctor whether or not taking a stimulant was okay with Geodon, and he said it was perfectly fine. So no worries there. :)
I have taken Geodon for a little over a month ago for bi-polar disorder. I too have the "hard time waking up" I have been experimenting on taking it earlier (i dont have the pass out effect either) I do notice if i take it about 7p.m. i can wake up like a normal person, if i take it later, its more difficult. I also take alprazolam for anxiety. I would suggest experimenting with the time you take it. good luck.
I share your desire to defeat bi-polar and dig myself out of the financial trench I've dug. You need to read the documentation on the GEODON web-site. Everything you have described is side effects from the drug. I guess the trade-off is a trade-off, just watch out for the heart problems associated with the drug. The long term effects of the drug are not yet documented but their are effects. It is 6am for me, I have been awake since 2am for the second night in a row if that tells you anything.
