I went on NuvaRing in June or July 2005. and in may 2006 I started having eye pain behind my eyes, which i thought was my sinuses but it turns out it is posterior Scleritis, which is a form of localized autoimmune disease, which of course, the doctors know nothing about and cant treat unless I agree to take steroids all the time or Methotrexate (the same medicine used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and which causes hepatitis as a side effect). no one has told me that the NuvaRing and Scleritis could be related but after reading the multitude of symptoms women have had on this site, i am starting to wonder if there is a relationship between the two. i have no history of anything like this, I'm 26 and otherwise very healthy.

Hi, I don't know if you will read this. But I read your post along with many others and I feel sympathy for you all. I just went to the clinic today to check out some alternatives for birth control. Recently I have just been using condoms because I have tried to use two different types of birth control pills and I turned into someone I did not know with severe depression. It's always a good thing to read about the side effects. Anyway, when I went to the clinic today, they were so urgent to get me on birth control. I figure that even the people who are trying to help you prevent birth are also salesmen for the birth control companies. Just like your doctors, just like your psychotherapists prescribing you antidepressants instead of helping you to fix your problems. You see, there are so many things we can do to keep ourselves healthy and happy for real; we can't fix things by just covering it up. Here I am on a tangent, but I have been thinking that maybe we should be considering the source of where the hormones come from; they come from cows I believe. And the way the meat industries treat the cows are horrible- I have no doubt that the cows are depressed. We- as human beings feel things on an emotional level, I would think that that emotional information would be passed on to us from the tortured animals. Also, I was thinking that anything that messes with our hearts and blood pressure, (it can even cause heart attacks), would give us constant panic. Ever notice when you get nervous, your heart beats fast and you have shallow breath? Birth control affects the lungs too. It also causes cancer in endless places. I would really like to know why these hormones have these effects, what is the science behind it? Our bodies are fragile. Good Luck to you all. Western medicine= covering symptoms with harmful side effects.
