I have had the stupid thing for almost 1.5 yrs and I have had the cracking!!!!!!! my goodness. My period is whacked!!! I will be removing it in two weeks and going on yasmin. The docs also tell me that it is impossible to have these side effects but I really do not think that all of us are crazy!!!

I just read your post and I am so glad that you replied. So you too have had the dryness and craked skin down there too? What a relief to hear someone w/ the same situation. We are definately not crazy. I have never had any problems down there before this Mirena thing. I'm getting more headaches now, and I'm tired a lot. What did you mean exactly by your period being wacked out? tell me more about your experience with Mirena. Thanks again for your reply!!!

hello everyone!! I went to my doc last week and he confirmed it was a yeast infection!!! But only of the external parts. Somehow this Mirena device alters the normal vaginal "flora" and can cause recurring infections!! This is like "jock itch" but in a female form. FYI don't use antibacterial soap down there. Instead try all natural or plain glycerine soap. The less fragrance or no fragrance the better. DO not douche and when you get out of the shower dry yourself with a blow dryer down there. You can also get this kind of fungal infection under your breasts. Keep them dry too, put some powder under them LOL!!! I have been through a whirlwind with all of this guys. I hope everyone can benefit from it. Good luck to you guys. I am keeping the Mirena in. It's just safer for me that way. take care of yourselves!! Thanks for all the great advice.
