I have had simliar experiences w/ Prevacid which I've been taking on and off for the last 2 or 3 years. Your story was the first one I ever read that is kind of what I'm going through now. Every time I exercise lately, I get shortness of breathe, then hot flashes and a panic attack. I guess b/c I feel like I'm not getting enough air. The worst of it for me is the heart palpitations. Your story has me considering whether or not I should try a PFT. I think our doctors should know the full reactions of such meds before giving them out to patients.
My son is 12 and was put on Prevacid in May. Now, three months later, he started his fifth year of football and finds himself having difficulty breathing at practice. In turn, his chest begins hurting from the tightness/pressure so he is definitely NOT geting enough oxegen to his brain or muscles. It is so bad, he is practically lathargic! All four of his coaches have agreed that he must have a physical problem. We will see a pediatric GI specialist in 2 days.
Other changes we have noticed is his loss of appetite in the morning/first half of the day, some intermitent neausea, diarrea, and lower abdominal pain. Since he began taking Prevacid, he cannot digest milk. It goes right through him. He never had that problem before!
