Has anyones back pain been severe i have a 2 episodes of severe b...

It's a known side effect, the back pain. I have had a few episodes myself. It's a lot better now that my mirena has been removed...

hi, i just read about the side effects you are having with the mirena. I had mine in now for 9 mths, this is the second time having it in. The first time i left it in for just over 5 mths i guess. I spotted for like months, not alot but enough to have to wear a light day liner. I decided to remove it, the only reason i used it, was because of heavy periods. There were heavy at times, lasting for like 10-11 days, a had clots the size of my thumb. I was tired , not too much energy, then i became anemia and had to take a iron supplement.

So i decide to try it again, and it's been 9 mths now, at first i had some spotting for a few days, then it would stop.I had a period a month later it was heavy for about 6-7 days, it slowed down almost next to nothing. I was spotting for a few days then i was finished. The mth after that my period was just very light, i had to use only light day pads, i though that was just awesome. For the first time in years i did'nt have to wear thick pads.So then for the next 5 mths that's how my periods have been, next to nothing.I would have lower back pain so bad when my period started ,it would last only for two days i guess, but let me tell you that was enough. The pain would also shoot down into my butt, right down to the back of my legs maybe half way down.Then when i would start to bleed,then the pain would go away.

Then just recently i had other things happen, when i had a period like i said it was light. After a few days of my period, whenever i would go to the bathroom. I would have , i'm not really sure how to discribe it, here goes. It was almost like tissue, skinny tiny pieces stringy,brownish in color almost like old blood. Sometimes it was little and other times it was enough, enough to make you wonder just what is going on with you. It would really freak me out, this went on every period i got.

When i seen my gyno, i asked her if it was possible for the uterus to shed and if that was normal for it to do, yes she told me.Then just in oct 2007 i started to have this discharge every now and then. The color was like an off white , very sticky like it had no odor, i was not itchy so i knew it was not a yeast infection. I mentioned it to my gyno she tells me that it's normal for women to discharge it's a sign of not being dry, hey i know my body and to me that was not normal. Then she wanted me to come back in 3 mths to see how i'm doing, and to give it more time.And she also cut the strings a bit shorter. My husband had felt something hit at the end of his penis whenever we had sex, he felt it only a few times.I did not feel anything, the doctor told me it was the strings he was feeling, my husband did not believe her, what he felt was not strings.

Anyway just this mth Feb 8,08 i went back to see her, told her what was happening since the last time i was in. I explained about the discharge i still was having, but now it was a yellowish in color still sticky no odor. I was discharging more now, to where i have to wear a light pad. And the mth of Jan right up until my app with her, i was having pain and alot of discomfort in my groin area around my hips down into my inner thighs. If i sat for more then 10 mins, when i got up from the chair i was stiff and aching in those areas i felt like a eighty year old woman. This was day in and day out, there was nothing i could take for the pain. It was difficult for me to function on a daily basis.So she examines me, she says that i have an usual discharge up there, like no kidding i told her that back in Oct. So she took a swab, she'll send it out to check for any kind of infection. She'll call me if anything out of the ordinary shows up, and in the mean time i have to have another pelvis and trans-vag ultrasound done. So now i'm waiting for the results.I'm anxious to see what is happening. I think my body is rejecting the iud, or i have some kind of infection.

I also have a small fibroid and a bulky uterus, i wonder if that would have anything to do with the pain and discomfort i'm having. I only know that it is driving me insane feeling the way i do, and the discharge i have. Other wise then that i really have no other problems , i like how i do not have heavy periods anymore and not having them twice a mth. I was not to crazy about putting the iud put back in, in the first place. And i'm not ready to have a hysterectomy, i know i do not to go back to having periods the way i did.

I'm really glad i found this site, i read a lot of stories, and i thought i had problems with the mirena. If there is anyone that has the symptons like me i would like to hear about them. I'm seriously thinking of removing the iud , i'm going to wait it out until i see my gyno. That should be soon, wish me luck
