well I would say to you all that you need to give Mirena time, I had it inserted 5 months ago, and had terrible daily cramping, nausea, headaches, acne, insomnia etc, and I would say with in 2 months all was well and now I have a short light period and all the other side effects are gone.
After reading all of these postings, I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one. Apparently, this is a great birth control method for a lot of women, but I hated it. I'm 26, I have one child, and I had mine inserted March of 2007, paid for it all myself (no insurance). Well, I just had it removed last week. Every month, I was bleeding for 2-3 weeks at a time, sometimes even more. I experienced quite a bit of pain as well, especially before, during and after my period. It felt like it was stabbing the left side of my uterus. I'm not sure exactly how many of my issues I can attribute to the device, but I've also had a lot of acne, fatigue, headaches, and pain during & after intercourse. And I've definitely gained some weight. My partner also told me he could feel it poking him. The bleeding & the pain were enough (after almost a year) to convince me to have the doctor remove it. I'm starting to feel a little better now that it's out, but a few days ago I started my period, and there is so much blood, I'm starting to get a little worried. There are a lot of blood clots, and I'm soaking through a super sized tampon in an hour and a half. Anyone else going through this after having the Mirena removed?
I had a coil fitted on 31.05.08 privately whilst having some other repair work done! 4 days later I had a period which lasted 10 days then minor spotting for 2 weeks and then hey presto another period which started 4 days ago medium flow but also have a constant cramping and feel extremely bloated all the time and like I have piled on the pounds, have my check up next Friday and really want it taken out, feel sluggish and just not right with this in. From looking at other forums on the web the mirena does not get a great write up feel I have made a terrible mistake.
Hi i had it fit 2 weeks ago, have been bleeding heavily but has just stopped, now just have spotting, but i have realised a lot of abdominal pain especially in my right side, doc has put me on strong pain killers and said it would go away within for weeks, but i am hoping it will be worth it in the end
