I had my Mirena put in on the 21st January 08. I am constantly feeling nauseous! So I don't eat as much, maybe 2 meals a day and I am usually sick if I have any form or food and drink after 8pm. Despite this I have not necessarily gained weight (1lbs) but I have gained so much fat. I have never been this big. I don't fit my fat jeans I wore 3 years ago. I cant wear the jeans I wore 2 years ago. And all the pairs I lived in from last January (07) or even august do not fit. At all. Constantly bloated. I have itchy legs. Keep getting upset. (I rarely cry). Got a few spots, nothing terrible, but I never get spots. And I cannot sleep. My doctor has prescribed sleep meds for 6 days but thats it. I keep getting cramps, dull cramps... I had one hideous one once put in, then it was normal dull cramps. My body hair has got on darker... Problem is I forget pills, and depo hasn't works (also bad reaction to hormones (no implant, don't want it) I have got pains in my legs, but its not all the IUD

HI, About the leg pains when I had the mirena I always had cramps in my legs but now I've been a month since I had the MIrena taking out and I haven't experienced anymore pain. I also got facial hair like a little on top of my lips so all I do is just bleach it. And yeah about the weight, well see I got it put in last year after my c-section and I couldn't lose any of my baby weight cause I felt like I was still pregnant always hungry, dizzy, sleepy and no energy But now tell you the truth without the mirena I have so much energy, it's hard to get to sleep at night!LOL. But I really feel like myself since I took it out. Maybe it just depends how your body takes a foreign object and also the hormones in it, a nurse told me it was a medication that's in the depot shot. But good luck and maybe your body can get used to the Mirena and maybe you should talk more to you doc about it, they really don't explain much but it probably would help asking. Bye Good Luck again hope you feel better..

Thanks for your reply. I called a nurse after I posted. she said wait 2 more months then see. I hope to god my body adjusts as I have no other method to use (tried most, dont get on with others), especially since I am in the uk (more limited than us). So I have to get used to it I guess. I am hoping it will settle as it has a lower hormone dosage, unlike the depo. Will keep close eye on the leg pains.

They need more contraceptives for men this is unfair. Always the woman's problem eh!?

Thanks again
