I am shocked by how similar our problems with Lipitor are. First off I am 48 and started taking Lipitor over a year ago. Originally the doctor started my on Zocor but I had an immediate negative reaction to that so she started me on Lipitor. Last year I started back at college so I attributed my increasing exhaustion to working full time and attending school. I also started having muscle spasms in my back as well as trouble with my left shoulder and calf muscle (for some reason the problems seem predominant on the left side of my body). I have also experienced restless leg syndrome that has gotten so bad that I have to shake my legs back and forth when in bed or sitting in order to relief the symptoms. My leg problem got so bad that I started walking with a limp to compensate for the pain shooting down hip to my leg. I ended up with a torn ligament that the doctor said was from my walking with a limp. They said I needed to exercize more and do stretching exercizes since between work and school I spent all of my time sitting. I did not put two and two together until they started my 69 year old mother on Lipitor and she started having similar symptoms. I have stopped Lipitor about a week ago and do feel like I am getting some energy back. I have an appointment with my doctor and intend to discuss this with her then. Personally I will not get on any further Lipitor type medications.
