I have taken Levoxyl for over 2 years and am still having big problems with hair loss. I have complained to my doctor numerous times, but she always says that it is the thyroid condition not the drug (I had no problems wtih hair loss until I started taking Levoxyl). I can't believe there are so many people with this problem. I thought I was just sensitive. Has anyone found a solution? I hate going off it, because before taking Levoxyl, I was always tired.

Whenever I take synthetic hormone replacement, I develop hair loss. After reading a new endocrinology text recently, I decided to change briefly from Armour Thyroid to Synthroid + Cytomel, and have regretted it ever since. (Synthroid = levothyroxine = Levoxyl) I felt horrible with the change in medication and started losing large amounts of hair almost immediately. Three weeks back on my previous Armour Thyroid dose and my mood and energy are nearly back to normal, but my hair loss continues... I am hopeful that it will taper off.
