I have been on Levaquin for 5 days and have had an ache and tightness in the back of my neck since the first day. I have slept very poorly for the last three nights and over the last two days have developed significant chest pain..feels like the muscles in my chest and upper abdomen are in a constant contraction. I went to my internist yesterday thinking it may be an unfamiliar type of asthma attack. I used my inhaler on the way and blood oxygen was fine when I got there but the chest pain continued. I was given a chest Xray and an EKG, both of which were fine. My doctor did not feel that it could be the Levaquin and advised me to continue it. The contractions in my chest have continued, almost crushing at times. The neck pain has been continuous. I am stopping the Levaquin and willing to risk having the infection return.

I am also on Levaquin - 3 days of 5 - was up all night w/ indigestion, concerning neck pain (on the outside - right where it bends below your chin when you look down) - have a sort of gagging feeling inside (not like sore throat pain at all) - but breathing is clear (not constricted) - have been nauseous for several days and am not taking the last 2 days of Levaquin - and am also willing to risk the infection's return. - hope you're feeling better!

I was taking Levaquin 3 weeks ago and I developed a pain in the left side of my chest which lasted for the entire 3 days that I took it. I also had other problems with my stomach and high blood glucose readings. I believe after reading about this drug that it never should be prescribed for use by diabetics. There are safer antibiotics and I was switched to another after alerting my doctor to my symptoms. If your physician isn't informed well enough to recognize Levaquin's well known side effects (which you were clearly experiencing), I advise you to get a new doctor right away. Don't risk the infection returning or worsening, Get another doctor to prescribe a different safer antibiotic as soon as possible.
